Help break a record with Steel Panther today
Posted on 14 June, 2009 by Martin Kielty [return]SuperUltraMegaGiant legends want to topple the world air-guitar title in the Tuborg Tent this afternoon
If you're heading over to the Tuborg Tent to see Steel Panther at 5.15, make sure you take your air-guitar. The death-to-all-but-metallers are planning to have a crack at breaking the world record for the biggest group air-guitar session in the world ever - and your help is required.
The title is currently held by ActionAid, who rounded up 254 players at last year's Reading fest. All it takes is one more fan to join the fun, and the Panther can be in the Guinness Book.
Guitarist Satchel says: "We're gonna jam - but don't just start randomly jamming otherwise you'll look like a dick."
Seriously, actually, Guinness does have rules for these things so if you want the result you'll need to do what they say.
And if you're not too hot with the imaginary six-string, but a bit of a goer with the real thing, you might want to enter Steel Panther's solo contest. Tomorrow (Monday) the band will release a free download of Death To All But Metal sans solo, an they want you to video yourself performing your own take.
